The Exciter triggers AeroScout’s tags as they pass through a choke point to transmit a message that is received by a standard Wi-Fi Access Point or AeroScout Location Receiver. This provides instant knowledge that a tagged asset or person passed through a gate, doorway or some other tightly defined area. The detection capabilities of the Exciter, combined with the location features of AeroScout software, make the AeroScout suite the most sophisticated enterprise visibility solution for a wide variety of industries.
Some examples of how customers use Exciters include:
- Immediately triggering alerts at facility exits, for theft prevention
- Precisely locating items to an individual shelf or workstation
- Confirming directional movement from one area or floor to another
- Triggering a variety of events in real-time, rather than waiting for the next tag transmission
- Distinguishing with high confidence between assets inside a room and those outside
Key Features
Precision Detection and Communications
AeroScout Exciters provide detection of AeroScout Wi-Fi tags, triggering them to transmit as they pass through a defined area. Exciters have up to a 6m (20 ft) programmable range, enough to cover wide gate areas.
On-The-Fly Messaging
Sophisticated messaging functions allow Exciters to store messages on AeroScout Wi-Fi tags for later transmission. Message transmission can later be triggered by other Exciters, enabling sophisticated process control functions (send, transmit and store data).
On-The-Fly Tag Behavior Modification
AeroScout Exciters provide wireless activation and deactivation of tags, thus helping to extend tag battery life by switching them off when they leave a defined tracking area. And Exciters can also change the transmission rate of Wi-Fi tags accomodating different scenarios.
Various Sizes and Features
Multiple form-factor sizes and functionality are available, from larger units like the EX2000 model with wider range capabilities or the EX3200 which provides a compact form-factor with greater range and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) capabilities to fit a variety of customer needs. The EX2000-BW model is a wireless Exciter that can be connected to the network via Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g) when physical network connections are unavailable.
Ethernet Connectivity and Power Capabilities
AeroScout Exciters can use Ethernet connectivity for centralized programming, monitoring and software updates by the AeroScout Engine System Manager, or can be configured to work without network connectivity. Some models allow for PoE functionality to reduce costs of deployment.
Intrinsically Safe Models
Exciters with intrinsically safe form factors are also available. Please see our data sheet for specification and certification.
